Conscious breathing has been proven to calm the nervous system and lower stress hormone levels. One simple technique is the 4-7-8 method: inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds. Try a few rounds, for example when you feel stressed – with a bit of luck, you'll feel calmer and more balanced.
