Health Tip #12: Was the winter long and dark? Get your sunshine vitamin elsewhere.

In autumn and winter, sunlight is often insufficient for us to produce enough vitamin D. At the end of winter, vitamin D stores are therefore particularly depleted. If this leads to a deficiency, it can affect mood and the immune system and, in the long term, cause bone damage. Fatty fish, eggs, and mushrooms provide small amounts, but often not enough—which is why vitamin D supplements are recommended, especially in winter.
